Healing in Auckland
A small, private room in Titirangi village, tucked against the Waitakere bush, for hands-on and in-person work in West Auckland.
A room on the edge of the bush
I work from Room 2C in Lopdell House, on Titirangi Road, right in the middle of the village. If you don't know the building, it's the large one you can't really miss. It's a cream Spanish Mission-style building from 1930, and it's been a Titirangi landmark ever since.
The Waitakere Ranges begin more or less at the end of the street. Titirangi itself is a bustling little village, with cafes, shops and people about, while the room gives us a private space to work. For a lot of people the drive up is already part of it. The city thins out as you climb, and by the time you've parked you're somewhere with a different rhythm altogether.
Finding me, and where to park
Room 2C, Lopdell House, 418 Titirangi Road, Titirangi, Auckland 0604.
There's free parking behind the building, and more on the surrounding streets if the car park is full, which it sometimes is at weekends when the village is busy.
You will come in through the big red doors, the grand entrance facing Titirangi Road. That brings you into the ground floor foyer. Room 2C is up on the second floor: straight ahead of you are two flights of stairs, or turn right in the foyer for the lift.
What a first visit is like
You arrive, and we sit down. That's genuinely the whole of it, and you can come exactly as you are. We begin by talking about what's brought you, which might be very specific, or might be no more than a sense that something isn't sitting right. Both are a good place to start. I ask questions, you answer as much or as little as you'd like to, and we go from there.
Some people talk for the first twenty minutes. Others would rather say very little. Both are completely fine; there's no required amount you need to share.
Sessions run 60 or 90 minutes, Monday to Saturday.
What it's like, physically
This is where in-person and online genuinely differ, so it's worth being specific. You stay fully clothed whatever we end up doing, so there's nothing to change into.
ConTact C.A.R.E. You stay in whichever position is most comfortable for the injury we're working with, whether that's standing, sitting or lying down. There's a reason for that: how you're sitting or standing when you're comfortable is already showing me where to begin. That's also what lets the flinchlocks unravel, so your comfort is doing part of the work. This is the one thing that genuinely needs you here rather than on a screen, and it's why a good many people make the trip to Titirangi. I work this way with horses and pets too, often travelling to them rather than asking them to come to me.
EFT Tapping. We mostly stay seated, and you tap through the points yourself while we hold the focus of the session together.
PSYCH‑K and the Emotion, Body & Belief Code work. These can use muscle testing, and plenty of people prefer to lie down for it.
Not sure which one you need?
Most people aren't, and it doesn't matter. You don't have to choose before you arrive. I'll suggest what seems to fit once I've heard what's going on, and in plenty of sessions we end up using more than one approach anyway. A fair few people turn out to want both, and there's no rush to decide. And if you already know what you want, that's what we do. I won't steer you somewhere else.
Coming from across Auckland
Titirangi village sits on the western edge of the city, which makes it a short run from Glen Eden, New Lynn, Green Bay, Blockhouse Bay and Kelston, and a straightforward one from Henderson, Te Atatū and the wider west. From the central city, allow a little longer than the map suggests at either end of the day.
Quite a few clients make something of the trip, with a walk in the ranges beforehand, or a coffee in the village after.
