ConTact C.A.R.E for dogs, cats & small animals

A startled leap off the couch or a fall down the stairs can be a surprise impact for a pet. ConTact C.A.R.E Flinchlock Release works with flinchlocks associated with those surprise impacts, with precision rather than force, wherever your pet is most comfortable.

A precise way of working with surprise impacts

Pets experience plenty of knocks and surprises throughout their lives, whether in play or simply in the ordinary business of being a dog or cat. Sometimes one particular moment catches them by surprise and leaves a flinchlock behind.

Read how ConTact C.A.R.E began, and what a flinchlock actually is.

I trained with Camille Nelson specifically for the small-animal work she's extended the method into. See my full training and certification.

I locate where your pet's holding a flinchlock and work with the pressure trail it's left, without force.

Why owners book a session

Pets can't tell you what happened, so there's often no clear story behind it, and that's fine. I don't need a cause to work with what your pet's body is currently holding.

A session doesn't need a specific problem behind it. Some owners book after a fall or a fright; others build it into the ongoing care of an older or much-loved pet.

What happens during a session

Every session is different, shaped entirely by what your pet is holding.

At my clinic or yours

The standard pet appointment is 30 minutes, $70 NZD at my Titirangi clinic. The time is reserved for precise hands-on work at your pet's pace. Travel isn't included in the $70 appointment; if a home visit would suit your pet better, get in touch first and we can discuss what is practical.

Questions about pet sessions

Does ConTact C.A.R.E involve manipulation or force?
No. I locate your pet's flinchlocks and follow the pressure trail they leave through the body. Precision does the work here, not force, which is very much in keeping with ConTact C.A.R.E's foundations as a martial arts based discipline. Read how it works.
Is this veterinary treatment?
No, my work is complementary and isn't veterinary diagnosis or treatment. If your pet is injured, acutely unwell, or you have any concern about its health or welfare, please contact your vet.
What if my pet is nervous about new people or being touched?
That's completely fine to tell me beforehand. I don't force contact, and I won't ask your pet to tolerate something it's not comfortable with. I work quietly, respect its comfort and space, and follow the flinchlocks and pressure trail rather than forcing contact. If your pet is very fearful or handling wouldn't be safe, we can talk it through first and decide the best course of action together.
Does my pet need to stay still during the session?
No. Your pet doesn’t need to stay perfectly still or in one position. I work with them at their pace, allowing them to move, reposition themselves or take a break when they choose to. The session can adapt to what they’re comfortable with rather than asking them to stay still.
